Mass production of Xiaomi SU7 starts

Xiaomi has reached the mass production stage of its first car, the Xiaomi SU7, which was launched last month. This move brings Xiaomi one step closer to its automotive goals. The company plans to start construction of the second phase of its Beijing factory by the end of 2024.

This expansion, which will exceed the factory’s current annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles, reflects Xiaomi’s vision to become one of the world’s top five electric vehicle manufacturers. However, given the challenges the company may face in achieving these goals, Xiaomi’s success in this area is eagerly awaited.

The new Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan has a range of up to 800 km with an impressive battery capacity of 101 kWh. In addition, its 676 horsepower engine features 800V electric architecture and a low friction coefficient, which can provide an additional 510 km of range in just 15 minutes.
Xiaomi’s mass production, which will start in February 2024, will take place in its own factory, using Beijing Auto’s licence. While monthly production is expected to exceed 2,000 units in March, this figure is expected to reach 10,000 units in July 2024. Although there is still no clear information on pricing, it is thought that the starting price could be around $30,000. Xiaomi’s strategy will be to profit from software features with low hardware costs.

What are your thoughts on the Xiaomi SU7? Do you think it will achieve high sales globally?
